Highway & Toll Roads

Italy offers an extensive road network that includes both toll-free state highways (SS) and paid toll highways connecting major cities and regions. State highways can be used freely while respecting the speed limits and regulations established by the Highway Code. On toll highways, drivers without Telepass must collect a ticket at the entrance gate and keep it until exiting the motorway. At the exit station, the ticket is inserted into the payment machine, where tolls can be paid conveniently using cash or credit card.
